Manchester United went five points clear at the top of the table after Chelsea could only draw with Bolton Wanderers. West Ham United edged closer to safety with an emphatic win at fellow strugglers Wigan Athletic.

Birmingham City and Sunderland were promoted to the Premiership after Derby County lost at Crystal Palace on Sunday. Southend United were relegated and Leeds United were left on the brink of relegation after being held to a draw by Ipswich Town.

Scunthorpe United were crowned champions despite defeat at Blackpool, with the Seasiders, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest all vying for the remaining automatic promotion place. Both Chesterfield and Bradford City were relegated to League Two.

Walsall went top of the divsion, Bristol Rovers crept into the play offs while Wrexham need to avoid defeat next weekend against Boston United to avoid relegation and send the Pilgrims down.
